If you would like to submit a proposal to perform or present at ClarinetFest® 2014, please download and complete the Call-for-Proposals Application Form and send it in to the address below. Recordings and written requests will be accepted through September 30, 2013 and will be reviewed by the committee. The ClarinetFest® 2014 committee is particularly interested in featuring pedagogy presentations or lectures relating to entrepreneurship. The conference will be featuring a wide variety of performance styles and repertoire – full consideration will be given to all complete proposals. Only proposals submitted by members of the International Clarinet Association will be considered.
ClarinetFest® 2014 will be an incredible event. The 2014 conference will be held in Baton Rouge, the capital city of Louisiana. As a 21st century musician the importance of diversifying and investing in our futures is paramount. The 2014 “Clarinetist as Entrepreneur” theme will focus exactly on this. How do we survive and flourish as clarinetists? The diverse skills and talents of our artists and guests will amaze you. These musicians have not only mastered the clarinet and enriched their lives through their multi-faceted careers, and also the lives of their students and communities.
The conference will take place on the campus of the Louisiana State University and will be located in three main buildings: The LSU School of Music, The Shaver Theater in the Music and Dramatic Arts Building, and the Union Theater, and will be tremendous venues for our concerts and clinics. Two of these locations have been beautifully restored over the past three years. We are also excited that our orchestra in residence for the conference will be the Baton Rouge Symphony, conducted by Maestro Timothy Muffet.
The LSU Campus is centrally located in Baton Rouge, with many restaurants and stores within walking distance. Our official Conference Hotel, The Lod Cook Alumni Center, is an elegant hotel located just a five-minute walk from the School of Music and Union Theater. Local Baton Rouge artist Diane Hanson has created the stunning artwork that will appear on the cover of the convention program book, and the original painting will be auctioned off as a fundraiser during ClarinetFest® to the highest bidder.
Robert DiLutis, former Professor of Clarinet at the Louisiana State University and current Professor of Clarinet at the University of Maryland invites you to come to LSU and "Laissez les bons temps rouler," Let the Good Times Roll! His artistic committee and volunteers have been working hard to plan a great event that not only features presentations by dozens of great artists, but also a Cajun Swamp Tour, Plantation Tour and Louisiana Shrimp and Crawfish Party. Don’t miss ClarinetFest®, and bring your ears and your appetite!
