
Tod Kerstetter serves as Professor of Clarinet, member of the resident Konza Wind Quintet, and Music Program Webmaster in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Kansas State University. His recent significant performances include solo and chamber appearances at the 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, and 2012 I.C.A. ClarinetFests®, as well as a solo recital at the 2009 University of Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium. Tod is a graduate of Furman University (B.M.), Indiana University (M.M.), and the University of Georgia (D.M.A.). His primary teachers included Earl Bates, James Campbell, Robert Chesebro, Henry Gulick, Theodore Jahn, and Richard Waller.
Tod has recently been involved in several commissioning projects for new music for clarinet, including compositions by David Maslanka (Desert Roads, Eternal Garden), Mauricio Murcia (Colombian Suite), Kevin Walczyk (Concerto Scion), and Craig Weston (Still on the Antipodes, Stehekin Sonata). He is also active as an arranger and editor. His published editions include Howard Hanson’s Fantasy for Clarinet (Carl Fischer) and two of Molter’s concertos (Prairie Dawg Press). With Robert Chesebro of Furman University, Tod Kerstetter recently co-authored a clarinet pedagogy textbook titled The Everyday Virtuoso, available from Woodwindiana, Inc. of Bloomington, Indiana.
Tod enjoys travelling and has performed internationally in Australia, Austria, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Slovenia, and Sweden. His other hobbies include home-roasting coffee, photography, and web page design.
