I.C.A. International Access Initiative

The purpose of the International Access Initiative is to assist in increasing membership to the I.C.A. particularly in the population of international (non-American) clarinetists who are from countries in which the membership fee is prohibitive and/or postal service is restricted or unreliable. In an effort to reach out to the international community, individuals from all countries except the United States are eligible to participate in this program.  Priority will be given to applicants from countries with low I.C.A. membership. This program differs from the Adopt-a-Member program, in that those participating will be placed in an Associate Membership category and enjoy limited privileges, rather than a standard membership.  The I.C.A. will support up to 50 members for a two-year period to have “Associate Membership” status. This new category of membership will allow those participating to have online access to the members only section of the I.C.A. website and the online version of The Clarinet, the journal of the ICA.  It is hoped that this program will foster increased knowledge of the clarinet and the ICA.  Additionally, this program will help increase communication in the clarinet community worldwide.

Recipients of the Associate Member status will receive a free online access code for a period of two years starting from the date the code is emailed.  This code will allow those selected to assess the membership section of the I.C.A. website which includes all online articles and available Clarinet journals.  The magazine The Clarinet can be accessed online or downloaded in a PDF.

How to Apply
Please send completed applications to clarinetaccess@gmail.com. The application form will be available on the I.C.A. website and in PDF format from all the National Chairs. A listing of I.C.A. National Chairs may be found at the I.C.A. website.  It is imperative that a current email address be included on the application.

Selection Process
Recipients of Associate Member status will be selected by the International Access Initiative Committee with the assistance of I.C.A. National Chairs.  A rubric to facilitate the selection process will be used by the International Access Initiative Committee. Recipients of the Associate Membership status will be notified by email after evaluation.  For more information, please contact Cassie Fox-Percival at clarinetaccess@gmail.com. The I.C.A. has the right to rescind the access program at anytime for any reason.
